Dealing with the price of electricity for your espresso machine. In this article we will try and help with the ever spiralling cost of your energy supply today. Lets try and look at a few energy saving tips for your power hungry espresso machine.
If your machine does not have a programmable on/off timer function, then the simple installation of a timer to the supply of the machine is a good cheap option. Depending on the size of your espresso machine and the power it requires, this could be a simple plug in timer, or if more than 13A is required, ask your electrician about installing a suitable timer unit onto the power feed to the machine.
Having a timer fitted will allow you to have your espresso machine turn on automatically in the morning before you open, making it ready for service when you arrive. It will also ensure that the machine is not left running over night or on closed days by mistake.
Another easy energy reduction for some users, is to check if your machine has a cup warmer element fitted under the top grill where you store your cups. If there is one, ask your engineer to disable it the next time your having a service done. The boiler in your espresso machine generates enough residual heat to warm the cups by itself.
When selecting your new machine, ask your supplier about the throughput on different sizes of machine. Try to match this to the amount of covers that your establishment has.
There is a big difference in power rating between your 1 group espresso machine and the needs of a big 3 group machine. Most 1 group machines start around 2500W element power rating, with 2 group machines mainly using around 3000W. This leaves the big power hungry 3 group machine requiring between 4500W and 6000W!
